Welcome to the world of Fruits and Bugs.
The Influence Bug and Trooper Bugs head out to Bobby Nelson's house to influence him to steal. It's up to the secret agent fruits, the Agents of the Spirit, to stop them! But first, will they be able to get past Bobby's dog, Quincy? This is part one of a two part series.
Paul Pineapple: "Bug
at back door! I repeat, bug at back door!"
Brett Banana: "Let's catch
some bugs."
Carl Coconut: "Impressive."
Carl Coconut: "Over
hear, canine unit. See if it is feasible to apprehend me."
Sarah Strawberry: "Not
bad, for a coconut."
Trivia:
This video was removed briefly due
to a legal dispute with 20th Fox Films. So we removed any Star
Wars text from the description.
The Animation Empire logo was made
by Bryan Lian, originally for our previous company, Moral
Productions.
The countdown numbers feature
reflections of Sarah Strawberry, Brett Banana, and Paul
Pineapple (the last one is a video).
Adam Apple's intro is a spoof of
Indiana Jones. The relic he has in his hands is a gold statue of
Stinky Bug.
The Sarah Strawberry intro is a
spoof of a scene from Charlie's Angels and a shot from
Spider-man (when he's in the burning building and dodging
blades). The Influence Bug jumps off a bullion cube that
features an image of the wind-up chicken we modeled.
The Brett Banana intro is from
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (when Obi Wan jumps out the
window). The alarm clock changes time during the shot. The
coloring book is of a caricature of our animators, Ed Price and
Bryan Lian,
The flyer that Bobby picks up has
a fictional game called Moral Combat on the back with
caricatures of our animators, Ed Price, Armando Wilderman, and
Chris Chin. The image on the front is of another fictional game
Agents of the Spirit Racing. It features Brett Banana, Gary
Grape, Peter Pear, and a Trooper Bug. Both images were made by
our senior modeler, Chris Chin.
The first shot of a classroom
scene features a camera that is panning out and zooming in at
the same time. It's a classical filming technique we used to
show that Bobby is remembering something.
The classroom white board says, "I
will not steal," which is from The Simpsons. The added humor is
that the video is about stealing.
In the classroom scene, the
portrait on the money features a caricature of our lead
animator, Bryan Lian.
The Paul Pineapple voice was
originated by the director, Ed Price, and then adopted by the
voice actor, Ken Boynton.
The Sarah Strawberry actress,
Sarah DeVoe, used to be a high school student of the director,
Ed Price.
A lot of people think 8:30 is an
early bed time, but not if you get up at 4AM to do chores!
Mwahahahaha!!!
In Bobby's room, the posters are
(from right to left) Agents action figures, Adam Apple, and Robo
Kiwi. Bobby's blanket features the Agents. Bobby didn't get
under his covers because that would have taken longer to
animate. LOL
Under the couch you get a good
perspective of how much larger Carl Coconut is than the others.
You can also see that Brett Banana has a gadget on his arm
labeled A.S.T. (foreshadowing for Episode 2).
The shot of the dog sniffing under
the doggie door is from Jurassic Park.
The Nelson family dog is named
Quincy.
The zooming gag is shot-by-shot
from Kung Pow.
Carl blinks during the Matrix shot
where the camera spins around Carl Coconut and Quincy.
The stars around Quincy's head are
from Super Mario Brothers.
We never ended up using the shots
of Brett Banana's backpack and Angie Orange's watch in Episode
2. LOL But you can find them in our cell phone series, Fruits VS
Bugs: Cell. The Adam Apple shot was already in the beginning of
this video.
